Our culture is built on common decency and mutual respect for each other, the business and customers. It's all about the team, not the individual here. This generates a great sense of togetherness amongst our staff. We don't tolerate big egos here – nobody's allowed to get too big for their boots!

Below are the values and standards we expect from ourselves and for all staff to display. Think of them as the glue that binds us

all together. They are really important, because a strong, positive company culture means we can succeed and grow as a company, and help make the pubs an enjoyable place to work.

BE PASSIONATE & PROFESSIONAL

We value passion, determination and a sense of urgency. We believe in what we are doing and where we are going. We have a positive and optimistic (but realistic) attitude about everything we do and look to inspire those around us.

BE THE MOST ENTHUSIASTIC PERSON YOU KNOW

Enthusiasm is totally infectious and generates bags of energy & positivity. It sustains you when times are tough and rubs off on everyone around you - everybody loves working with enthusiastic people! So when faced with a new challenge, learn to say “why not?”, instead of “why?”.

Enthusiasm adds that extra 5%, that extra sparkle to what we do. It is so often the difference between good, and great, and what will make a customer’s visit truly memorable.

CHANGE IS GOOD

If you’re not prepared to deal with constant change then you are probably not a good fit for the company, we don’t fear change; instead, we embrace, encourage and drive it.

We never accept or get too comfortable with the status quo because, historically, the companies that get into trouble are the ones that aren’t able to respond quickly enough and adapt to change. So we always plan for and are prepared for constant change. Not change just for the sake of it, but change that improves our operation or customer offering. The world around us is ever-evolving, so we need to be too. If we want to stay ahead of the competition and deliver a truly great product to customers we need to constantly challenge what we do and ask ourselves,‘can we do it better?’

BE HUMBLE

We are immensely proud of our business and what we’ve achieved, but we are not arrogant. Instead, we carry ourselves with a quiet and respectful confidence. If you have a big ego, then you’re probably not a good fit for us.

BE NICE

As the old saying goes ‘do unto others, as you would have done unto you. We firmly believe that what comes around, goes around. Be nice to people, it will make you feel happier and good about yourself. Do it without an agenda, to curry favour or to seek something in return. Do it because it is the right thing to do and because you want to. If you are openly and unselfishly good to others, you might find that good things happen in return.

We treat all our colleagues with respect and we value integrity in our dealings with one another. We look out for one another. This goes not only for our dealings with colleagues but in our dealing with suppliers too.

GOOD IS GOOD BUT EXCELLENT IS BETTER

We strive for excellence in everything we do. Our high standards of performance come, not from an inbuilt personal characteristic, but through repeatedly performing tasks to the highest of standards. Excellence, therefore, is a habit, not a personality trait. And it is a good habit to have. Be the best you can; and inspire others to do likewise. Good enough is not good enough; we aspire to be the best in everything we do..
